Stabilis Professional Services, Inc. (a recruiting division of Core Resource Group) is looking for an Exhibit Designer for their client in New Haven, CT. 

Job Responsibilities:
In cooperation with the Museum Curator, the exhibit designer oversees the exhibition design, development and implementation of the Museum’s temporary exhibitions and updates to the semi-permanent galleries. Works directly with contract companies concerning construction and fabrication of exhibition elements, including managing schedules and obtaining contract bids.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Page layout, art design applications, Vectorworks/Sketch Up or similar programs for 3D modeling and rendering is very helpful.
  • Full color electronic design capability.
  • Computer-aided layout and image creation experience.
  • Color management experience with ability to generate quality color from original art through reproduction is helpful.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, conventional photography and digital formats using computerized editing and color correction tools for publishing and straight digital output.
  • Education: BA preferred with emphasis on art design or graphic communications.
  • Experience: at least 3-5 years related illustration and graphic design experience as well as computer-aided layout and image creation or equivalent combination of training and experience.  Previous experience museum exhibition design and graphics design required.
  • Please Note: The museum is looking for a professional exhibit designer to layout its annual Christmas show. This person will coordinate with museum and facilities staff as well as the construction contractor to design and fabricate the show. It is expected that this individual will work an average of 20 hours per week until the opening of the show in mid-November. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in exhibition design and be proficient with modern design software programs. BA preferred with emphasis on art design or graphic communications. The Museum does not require a particular CAD software, only that the designer be familiar and proficient with a particular design program. The most recent design for the particular space was performed in Vectorworks so having this will be very helpful.
