Job Description
This is your opportunity to see the world, and upgrade your IT technical skills.
These positions are on the Global IT Modernization (GITM) program with the Department of State. They include up to 50% travel to overseas embassies and consulates as well as some annexes in the United States. These systems are deployed to U.S. Embassies and Consulates around the world for the purpose of operating systems and data MIGRATIONs from Windows NT to Windows 2003 Active Directory system platform. Quest Software utilities are used to perform the data MIGRATION. Hardware services perform during the deployment process involves server rack assembly, KVM and UPS INSTALLATION, HP AIT 35GB Autoloader data backup device configuration, fiber optic and CAT5 termination, electronic transceiver configuration, (Cisco) network router/switch programming and LAN/WAN connectivity testing
Most installations are two weeks, but can be up to one month in length. Installation and configuration training is included with these positions and they are a great opportunity to build IT technical skills. The positions include the following task areas:
- Domain Controller (Microsoft Windows Server 2003) installation and Migration.
- Member Server (Microsoft Windows Server 2003) installation and Migration.
- Exchange Server (Microsoft Exchange 2003) installation and Migration.
- Layer 2 and 3 switch (Cisco products) configuration and installation.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery (FilesX) installation and configuration.
- Workstation (thin client, thick client) installation and configuration.
The positions require the following skills:
- Entry: 2 years of IT experience with Bachelors degree, or 4 years without a degree
- Midlevel: 2-3 years of IT experience with Bachelors degree, or 5 years without a degree
- Experience using Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003
- Experience using Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or 2003
- Cisco IOS experience is preferred
- A+ or Network + ,CNNA certs preferred
- Requires active Top Secret
