 GVTC, Inc. has a full time opening for a Product Manager – Cable TV at our Smithson Valley Store.  This position will be part of our fast paced and innovative Product Management Department.  GVTC, Inc. is the largest telephone cooperative in Texas serving 40,000+ customer/members and our products include telephone, cable TV, internet service, and security systems.  GVTC, Inc. headquarters are located in the scenic hill country area of Smithson Valley.

GVTC seeks a Product Manager – Cable TV, as the subject matter expert to develop the market strategy, product roadmap, and lifecycle management for the specified market product and/or service.  The Product Manager specializing in cable TV products will manage its success from new product design, development, pricing, positioning, enhancements and go-to-market strategy.  They will work at a close, cross-department basis both as a project lead and non-lead to ensure company objectives and goals are achieved and will act as the company’s subject matter resource and trainer for all sales channels on the specified product line.  The ideal candidate will also recognize, practice, and enforce safety rules and procedures when performing tasks.

Summary:

As the subject matter expert, the Product Manager - CATV will develop the market strategy, product roadmap, and lifecycle management for the specified market product and/or service.  Will manage its success from new product design, development, pricing, positioning, enhancements and go-to-market strategy.  Will work at a close, cross-department basis both as a project lead and non-lead to ensure company objectives and goals are achieved.  Act as the company’s subject matter resource and trainer for all sales channels on the specified product line. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 

  • Plans, analyzes, organizes, and controls an assigned product from conceptual stages through product definition, development, implementation, training and ongoing management to meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, marketing, engineering, customer service, operations and accounting to develop and provide products that are responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Manages product portfolio with primary focus on new product development and direct costs to ensure product profitability meets corporate objectives and develops bundling opportunities with other corporate product offerings that align with strategic objectives.
  • Conducts ongoing product research including competitive analysis, market trends, customer demand and market segmentation to direct the management of the product life cycle.
  • Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company product line and meet corporate growth objectives.
  • Provides support and training to sales and marketing department through customer site visits, sales presentations, trade show and conference participation, and input on sales collateral to assist in the achievement of corporate sales objectives.
  • Provides product documentation and information to assist in the creation of product training material for the organization and participates in training as appropriate.
  • Assists in the definition and development of functional area metrics to maximize product gross and net margin in accordance with corporate objectives. 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in the related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in the CATV or Telecommunications industry.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with excellent business acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel.  Experience with MS Access is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and work cross-functionally within the organization.
  • Work independently in a dynamic environment, consistently achieving key milestones.
  • Manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously in fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Make decision and solve problems while working under pressure.

Education/Experience: Bachelor degree required. Minimum five (5) year experience in communications industry in similar field of training. 

Language Ability: Ability to read, write and comprehend complex instructions and both short and long correspondence. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with and solve problems using solid judgment skills. 

Technical skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office 2007 (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint), Project Management/EPM, and Comsoft programming software applications. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None.
